Students take their brainstorm and create a poem using this sheet that helps them organize and refine their ideas.

How To Use the 5W Poem Worksheets

Print, copy, staple, and go! These poem worksheets are great for:

    • Teaching question words: Have students practice writing and answering questions about their animal or person.
    • Challenging students to write a poem about what they’re learning in class: The worksheets can apply to any animal or person.
    • Create a wax museum: Students write a 5W poem about a historical figure and dress up as that figure. To present, they must read their poem as their person.
    • Create a class book of 5W poems to share all the amazing poems students write.

Why Teachers and Students Love 5W Poem Worksheets

Combining visuals and writing, these printables are easy to differentiate across skill and grade level. The brainstorming and drafting pages provide just enough scaffold for students. Add a few visuals and sentence stems to support MLL students even more.

Students are supported through the brainstorming and writing process so they can let their creativity run wild.
